Professor Carlton C. Qualey is
chairman of the department of history in Carleton College, Northfield,
Minnesota, and a member of the board of publications of the
Norwegian-American Historical Association. He began his graduate
study under Dr. Blegen at the University of Minnesota.
Mrs. Dorothy Burton Skårdal, for three years an instructor
in college English, had a Fulbright scholarship to Norway,
1950—51, and has been a resident of Oslo since 1953. She has
prepared brochures in English for the Norwegian government.
Professor Sverre Arestad is chairman of the department of
Scandinavian in the University of Washington, Seattle, and
a member of the executive board of the Norwegian-American
Historical Association.
Miss Beulah Folkedahl, curator of archives for the Norwegian-American
Historical Association, edited "Elizabeth Fedde’s Diary,
1883—88" for volume 20 of Studies and Records. Her special
interest is the social aspects of church history.
Dr. Mario S. De Pillis has been visiting assistant professor
in the department of history in the University of California
at Berkeley, on leave from the University of Massachusetts.
He is a trustee of Shaker Community, Incorporated, at Hancock,
Massachusetts.
Mr. Malcolm Rosholt, for years a journalist and intelligence
officer in Asia and a lecturer on the Middle and Far East,
now gives all his time to writing, mainly in the field of
Wisconsin local history.
Mrs. Barbara Levorsen, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota,
gratifies her curiosity about places as well as the past by
constant travel and reading. [294]
Professor Kenneth O. Bjork is chairman of the department
of history in St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, and
editor of publications for the Norwegian-American Historical
Association.
Mr. Derwood Johnson, an attorney of Waco, Texas, will take
office January 1, 1963, as judge of the county court at law
of McClellan County, Texas. He is a member of the association’s
executive board.
Professor Einar Haugen is Vilas Research Professor of Scandinavian
and Linguistics in the University of Wisconsin, and a member
of the board of publications of the Norwegian-American Historical
Association.
